Based in Cork and serving communities across Ireland, Solar Path was founded in 2022 with a simple vision: build a solar company from day one that’s modern, scalable, and customer-focused. Co-founders Ken Hegarty, with a background in law and property, and John Dennehy, a seasoned tech entrepreneur who had spent decades building software companies, specifically designed Solar Path to scale without the usual growing pains.
Speaking to Ken Hagarty, one of the Co-founders, he recounts the journey at Solar Path and the early focus on scalability:
“In our first year, we focused on residential installations, averaging just a few systems per week. Installations grew fivefold in year 2 and doubled again in year three.. By the end of our third, we had built a highly efficient operation with the systems and demand in place to support yet another phase of rapid growth.”
“From the start, we made a deliberate choice: avoid spreadsheets, email chains, and paper-based processes. Instead, we invested early in digital workflows and integrated systems powered by Scoop, our field service and project management software. That decision meant that as volumes increased, our workflows, documentation, and customer communications remained clear and consistent.”

The prestigious PowerTeam™ award recognises Solar Path’s commitment to operational excellence. This badge is awarded to organisations that demonstrate forward-thinking and an innovative approach to building operational excellence and quality into the structure of their business.
For homeowners, solar can feel overwhelming. Government grant applications, compliance paperwork, electrical test reports, and stacks of manufacturer datasheets often cause confusion and delays. Solar Path has been intensely focused on simplifying this process for customers by implementing the following key practices:
The result? Peace of mind. Homeowners know their system will be installed correctly, and that every piece of compliance paperwork has been handled in the background.
As we’ve grown, so have the types of projects we deliver. In addition to residential work, we’re now completing commercial and agricultural projects, including solar for a bar, a dental practice, transport facilities, a number of casinos, and farm installations.
Each of these projects has unique requirements, ranging from compliance to system complexity. Because our technology stack and workflows were designed to be flexible from the beginning, adapting to larger and more specialised projects is straightforward. The same processes that keep residential projects smooth also support these larger-scale operations without disruption.
The team sees even more opportunities on the horizon. Beyond commercial and agricultural solar, Solar Path is actively exploring battery storage and small-scale solar farms. With a solid operational backbone, we can expand efficiently while staying true to what matters most: delivering a high-quality, stress-free customer experience.
Whether you’re a homeowner looking for a reliable solar installation or a business exploring commercial or agricultural solar, the benefit is the same: Solar Path makes the process easy. From the first conversation to the final sign-off, every step is organised, transparent, and efficient. With our emphasis on organisation, operational efficiency & quality, you can rest assured that you will be receiving the best service and product.
